About the Good Health Coach

Let me introduce myself....
Hi, my name is Sheryl, and, you guessed it, I'm the
Good Health Coach. Since you've found your way
to this "about Sheryl" page, I'll just get straight to the
wild and crazy ride that brings me to offering this service.
It all started when I was 20 and went to Mexico with
my college for a few months. I loved the food, I loved the people, I
loved the country, I loved the food, and did I say how amazing the food was? ----
but was I dumbfounded (as only a 20 year old would be)
to return to the US,
20 pounds
heavier than I was when I left. Over the next few dacades (while
I got my MBA in business consulting, had a fine corporate career,
got married and raised two amazing sons, I managed to
yo-yo diet many times. You probably can't name a diet I haven't
been on, tried, or heard about.
When I hit 50 (that age thing is just between us, OK?)
all those diets slowly quit working.
I had gotten my Masters degree in counseling and psychology
to help people with the depression and anxiety that sets
in when people feel helpless around trying to change old patterns.
I expanded into coaching and graduated from the Institute
for Life Coach Training, and earned the distinquished Associate
Accredited Coach from the International Coaching Federation.
On the way I developed some pretty clear understandings
and first hand empathy about the challenges of trying to create a healthy
lifestyle.
As a Health Coach, I believe that each person has
within them the ability to achieve optimum health and a
state of well-being. I also believe that the art of
creating the happy, fulfilled, meaningful life is
possible for each one of us. I believe in your own
inner sense of where you want to be, and your own
sense of how to move there. I can
support your growth by helping you understand the
change process, and supporting you to discover what
your own next right step is. Ours is the meeting of
two minds toward one purpose, yours.
I have been in private practice since 1994. I have
supported the healing journey of hundreds of people
using my unique blend of techniques that identify
both strengths and dysfunctions in the physical,
emotional, and spiritual aspects of a person's being.
I love my work and am pleased to be of service in this
way.
My formal training includes:
- Masters degree in Counseling and Psychology from Lewis & Clark College
- Graduate of the Authentic Happiness Coaching program
- Graduate of the Institute of Life Coach Training
- Associate Certified Coach by the International Coaching Federation
- Graduate of the Barbara Brennan School of Healing
- Graduate and past faculty member of the Oregon School of Massage
- Licensed massage therapist in the State of Oregon (#5466)
- Masters of Business Administration, University of Portland
- Bachelors of Music from Westminster Choir College
I am a member of the following professional organizations, giving
me access to the most current, valued information in the field.
-
International Coaching Federation
- Northwest Coaching Association
- National Wellness Institute
- American Counseling Association
- Oregon Society for Clinical Hypnosis
- Institue of Noetic Sciences
And that's my story
(and I'm sticking to it)
